Redemption

Not the ultimate and more important Redemption but rather the societal or secular redemption.  As our Nation moves further away from our roots based on Judeo – Christian laws and customs there are more signs of our decline and coming demise as a great nation.   They are there to see if you only open your eyes.  The proponents of the return of secular paganism are not shy about their goals and speak openly about them.  Modern day liberalism has been the carrier of this infectious disease which like the mad cow disease attacks the brain and an unbalanced high fat diet attacks the heart.  Tolerance which was a standard byword in the liberal lexicon has all but disappeared from the segments of society that are controlled by liberals and the left.  Freedom of speech and thought are denied in most of Americas educational campuses from elementary school through post graduate university studies.  It turns out that the “hippies” who were rebels without a clue in the 1960’s and 70’s are now in charge and tolerance is now in; as in intolerance.

A society without a firm grasp of right and wrong or basic standards of how we treat others will self destruct as we are currently experiencing.  The liberal left who have always decried how this Nation treated it’s minorities has in fact been the most destructive, most intolerant force against minorities.  Witness the destruction of the black family unit brought about by the left’s crazy welfare regulations  to their support of an American holocaust (abortion) that was directed toward the elimination or control of the black population but has spread like a cancer through all of society. You can look and see these things but until you witness it on an individual level, it does not register.  Such is the case with me now.  A man who I consider a good man in all aspects of life, very modest and self depreciating he went out of his way to help anyone who he could but he unfortunately has a past that came back to haunt him through the action of a school district superintendent.  It seems that as a young man Ron moved from Alabama to West Philadelphia and ended up getting involved with the wrong crowd.  Anyone who knows that area is aware how easy that is, even back in the 60’s.  He got into trouble and spent time in the detention center.  He did not murder or molest children and paid for his actions.  Now in his early sixties he is again being punished.  A cold hearted superintendent who herself has made at least two bad decisions in hiring; one a teacher and another an administrator friend who turned out to be pedophiles, had Ron dismissed from his job as a bus driver a few weeks before Christmas.  Who is the criminal ?

The recidivism rate is very high in America and part of that is due to our Judeo – Christian value system being eroded by the pagan secularist.  Forgiveness is an important component and when a person commits a crime and pays for it society should see the person as redeemed.  Does this mean that a drug pusher or user should be allowed to operate a pharmacy or a pedophile be placed in charge of children?  That would be insanity or even borderline liberal.  But a person who has paid their due and has lived a honorable life for over 40 years should not have the sins of youth be held against him.  Is it any wonder that a person coming out of prison facing not only a lousy economy but an unforgiving society ends up doing criminal acts that land them back in prison.  Individuals change their lives everyday when given the chance and each case is different but common sense which this suburban Superintendent totally lacks along with compassion could improve our society.  At least it would recognize redemption and not leave it to the Churches to teach the concept.

Gas Prices Revisited

In an earlier post I wrote that the political parties in power in the great state of Pennsylvania have assured that consumers would be paying $3.00/gallon no matter how low the prices drop elsewhere.  Thanks to fracking and the drilling on private land, the world economy slowing and reducing the demand, the strengthening of the dollar and the Saudi’s production cooperating with the startling drop in the price of oil; I am happy to say I was wrong.  At least about the price.  The taxes are still there and as a percentage of the price it is even a bigger chunk of our money.  Without those taxes the price would be below $2.00/gallon!  The Obama Administration is taking credit for the supposedly booming economy but as usual it overstates it’s value to the American people.   The massive amount of extra cash in the pockets of the American consumer has given the economy a boost that only camouflages the underlying weakness that still has to be corrected.

The drastic drop in oil prices has had other fortuitous effects.  Putin and Russia has been checked which shows that Russia is still a third rate power and would be not much different then it was when Czar Nicholas ruled but for the nuclear factor.  Can it be trusted to behave?  Not hardly.  It is widely expected that Russia will invade the Ukraine under some trumped up pretense similar to Herr Hitler with Poland in 1939.  Putin has Russians starving because of his rule and he will act like the thug he is and Russia will reattach the Ukraine which was considered the breadbasket of the old Soviet Union.

The eco – nuts   have to be driven crazier with our free market once again keeping us from the stone age they sorely miss.  It has been oil production on private lands that have helped drive the price down.  Obama has reduced oil production on public lands and at the behest of the democrat fat cat owners of the “green” energy companies he and the government are actively working to gobble up state lands that have huge reserves of natural gas and oil in order to block further production.   There is a big battle brewing in Alaska that is already mostly federalized as the Obama Administration wants to place another 1,000,000 acres of land under the federal domain.  This land is being used by Alaska to produce oil to help fund the state.  Even the most ardent democrat voter has to ask themselves why their leaders want America (that includes themselves) to become energy poor?  The high cost of energy is a direct war on the poor and middle class which the democrat party has been waging for years.  To the radical left which has controlled that party since the late sixties democrat means dependency.  Like the drug dealers on the street corner who peddle their wares they slowly introduce dependency to a normal everyday American until the user is totally dependent and will do anything for their next fix.

There appears to be a small market for certain “green” industries.  Which is good for the market place but neither the gas/oil industry or the supposed savior of the world -the green energy industry deserve any form of tax money be it in the form of tax breaks or direct funding to the bank accounts of the CEO’s.  The Obama Administration has practically destroyed one segment of the energy industry, coal, and aims to do the same to gas and oil.  So while the outlook for cheap gas is good for the short term; unless we control the federal governments appetite the war on the poor and middle class will return with a vengeance.

Vaccinations

As a kid I remember walking a couple blocks to Disston Elementary School for a sugar cube with a dose of the polio vaccine.  I did not want to take it and it took many threats from my mom to finally consume it.  Even at that young age I knew there was something not quite right about it.  But then I didn’t take kindly to eye drops, ear drops or cough medicine.  I even detested Vicks Vapor Rub.  Oddly though I grew to like the tablespoon of Cod Liver Oil with an orange juice chaser but to this day I thank God that I never had to receive the Vitamin B shots in the rump that my mom would dispense to my older siblings.  What a fun time that was to grow up.

Vaccinations have without a doubt protected us over the years and many of the dreaded diseases had almost become extinct.  Many are working their way back now into our society.  The government and medical industry will tell you that it is due to the growing number of parents who object to vaccinations for their children.  There is a growing cry to force vaccinations in order to curb the spread of the diseases.  As the only people who are at risk – voluntarily – what does it matter.  Those vaccinated are safe if you believe that they work. While common sense tells us that if you don’t get vaccinated the risk is higher I lean towards the non-vaccination group.  Vaccines have changed over the years and I do not trust that they are safe anymore.  If you look at the rise in Autism and other disorders there is a correlation between the rise between the two.  Growing up I was not aware of any kids with Autism or mental illness as I am now; but I saw kids with braces on their legs from polio.

One factor that the government and their media fails to mention is the massive invasion of illegal aliens that has been allowed to bring in these diseases.  The current measles outbreak just happens several months after this invasion, coincidence?  Only if you believe in coincidences.  If I sound paranoid it might just be the offshoot of that polio vaccine.
